I saw this woman some time ago standing in front of a bank talking on the phone somewhere in midtown, but when I wanted to take a picture, she suddenly went away. Because I thought she was interesting to photograph I started to follow her for a while, but lost her after a few minutes… Too bad… But then, 6 blocks later I saw her again on Broadway lighting her cigarette secretly having her face turned towards the wall and I took this picture.

Julius logging-story in National Geographic

After almost 6 months of travelling in Asia, Julius is back home in Holland / Germany!
»The best surprise was, when I arrived on Amsterdam Airport, I found my logging story from Canada in the current issue of the Benelux National Geographic Magazine.«
Next to that, there is also a portrait of the Dutch scientist »Tom Bade« in the same edition. It is part of a portrait series about leading scientists, which Julius shoots monthly for National Geographic.

Shoot for GQ Germany

Some weeks ago I shot a small story for the current issue of GQ Germany. I went to Pittsburgh, Pensilvania to photograph Paul C. Mawhinney, the man with the largest record collection in the world. Paul owns more than 3,5 Million records. Due to his diabetes he became half blind and therefore decided to sell all his records. The new owner will turn the collection into a museum.

Joseph is the owner of »The World of Suits« in Tribeca in New York City. It is really chaotic in his shop, but nevertheless, he knows where everything is.

This is the customs chief at a Lao-Thai border crossing. He is trying to figure out if i have enough stamps and signatures to take pictures there. (After a few hours it was ok…) I liked the way he tried to preserve order in his chaotic office.
